Ph.D. Thomas A. Bryer

Civic engagement and combatting disinformation & misinformation with respect to issues that are socially, culturally, and politically complex.

Thomas Bryer is a professor in the School of Public Administration at the University of Central Florida and in the Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) in Lithuania. At KTU, he is leading a research project funded by the Lithuanian Science Council on non-economic factors of emigration. He is also leading a multi-national research project with the United States, Canada, Poland, and United Kingdom on nonprofit and government adaptive capacity for democratic performance in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, with joint funding from national research agencies in each country through the Trans-Atlantic Platform. He is the author or editor of seven books, with three more under contract. These include Handbook of Theories of Public Administration and Management (2021), Citizenship and Ethics (2020), Poor Participation: Fighting the Wars on Poverty and Impoverished Citizenship (2018), and Social Media for Government (2016). In 2021, he received an award from Global Lithuanian Leaders for contributions to science in Lithuania.
