The Changing Translator Profile through the Dialogue of Industry and Academia | Online Conference on Translation

Join the online conference on Translation, organised by the European Commission Directorate-General for Translation, and Kaunas University of Technology.

The representatives of business, academia, and students of translation studies will meet to discuss the issues in the demanding market of translation, to talk about career possibilities, to express the expectations of each side, and to debate the fast changing translator profile, as well as the ways of prompt adaptation of translation training to the contemporary market.

PROGRAMME

10:15-10:30     Welcome speeches.  Ainius Lašas, Dean at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Kaunas University of Technology. Mr Arūnas Butkevičius, Head of the Lithuanian Language Department, Directorate-General for Translation, European Commission.

11:15-12:00     What does Industry Expect from University, presentation by Dr. Juan José Arevalilio Doval, EUATC, Hermes Traducciones y Servicios Lingüísticos, Spain

12:00-12:30     R&D Trends and Translator Training, presentation by Prof. dr. Ramunė Kasperė, Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania

12:30-13:00     Coffee break
